Visit to Oxford for a gentle walk through nine centuries of Medicine at Oxford will be led by Ian Mitchell, a member of the Oxford Guild of Tour Guides.

The 90 – 120 minute tour will take you to the fascinating places and people associated with Oxford’s medical past. From Robert Grossteste and Roger Bacon in the 1200s to Sir Richard Doll and Sir John Gurdon in 2000. It has not been all plain sailing, with periods of inactivity but also periods of dramatic discovery and investment. The role of William Morris aka Lord Nuffield will be included.

The tour will start at 2:00 pm by the gate at the entrance to Christ Church War Memorial Gardens in St Aldates and take about 90 minutes. There are a number of eateries around the area where you can obtain lunch ahead of the visit.

We are limited to 20 places on this tour which is now fully booked, and there is already a waiting list.
