Amersham

Holy Trinity Church, Penn, HP10 8NY (HOD Event)

An interesting 12th century church with later additions it houses monuments to renowned local families, and the “Penn Doom” – a rare 15th century painting. Open 10.00-17.00

Aylesbury

St Mary the Virgin Church, St Marys Square Aylesbury HP20 2JJ (HOD Event)

Bucks Family History Society display of Parish maps, books and Parish records.

Aylesbury Quakers

Society of Friends Meeting House, 9-11 Rickfords Hill, Aylesbury HP20 2RT (HOD EVENT)

Open 10.00-16.00

Find out about Quakers, the meeting house, the cottages, the tranquil garden silent worship. (there will be a five minute meeting every hour on the hour)

Buckingham

National Trust, New Inn Farm, Stowe, MK18 5EQ (HOD event)

The National Trust is offering free entry to the Stowe estate, take the opportunity to visit St Mary’s Church in the heart of the garden and the Gothic Temple a splendid folly built in 1741. Open 10.00-17.00

Burnham and Slough

St James the Less, Dorney SL4 6CP

A fascinating church, built in the 12th century with a font dating from that time. Brick Tudor tower containing a peel of six bells Any number of fascinating features in the church including Georgian pews and a west gallery and the magnificent tomb of Sir William Garrard who died in 1607. St James is among Simon Jenkins top 1000 English churches.

St John’s, Farnham Common SL2 3NJ

Claydon

Keaches Meeting House, Winslow. MK18 3AH (HOD Event) Open 14.00-17.00

This small Baptist Chapel built in 1695 has an unspoilt interior and strong links to Benjamin Keach, pay a visit to find out more.

There will be a History walk lasting around one hour around Winslow at 17.00 starting from Keach’s Meeting House, this sounds like the a good way to finish your Ride + Stride day.

St Martin, Dunton will be hosting a late afternoon one hour church to church walk followed by a fish & chip supper, drinks and pub games. Tickets £10 from ridestride@bucks-historic-churches.org

Milton Keynes

St James Church, Church Street, New Bradwell. MK13 5LG (HOD Event) Open 10.00-13.00

Exhibition of Artefacts and Pictures associated with St Peter’s Church, Stanton Low

Stonepit Field car park, Wolverton Road, Great Linford, MK14 5AT (HOD event) 19.00

A 1.5 mile (2.5km) circular sunset walk by the canal and through Stanton Low Park to visit visiting the remains of St Peter’s Church and the site of the manor.

The Cross & Stable Church, Stable Yard, Downs Barn, MK14 7RZ (HOD Event) 10.00-12.00

Church built in 1985 to serve parts of the new town, refreshments and guides to show visitors around.

St Lawrence Church, off Vicarage Road, Bradwell Village, MK13 9AG(HOD event) 10.00-18.00

One of the oldest buildings in Milton Keynes dating from 13th century.

History tour at 12.30 starting from the church gate.

Magdalen Tower Exhibition, Stony Stratford Library, 5-7, Church Street, Stony Stratford, MK11 1BD (HOD event) 10.00-17.00

A small exhibition showing the history of the Magdalen tower the remaining part of  the Mary Magdalen church built in the 13th century, the church burnt down in 1742 along with much of the east side of Stony Stratford leaving only the tower still standing.

St Mary’s Church, Church Green Road, Bletchley, MK3 6BJ (HOD event) 10.00-17.00

Grade 1 listed church. Tours every half hour between 10.00 and 13.30 then at 14.00, 15.30, 16.00 and 16.30. At 14.30 there will be a reenactment of the fulfillment of the request of a 17th century benefactor of St Mary’s church.

St Lawrence Church, Broughton Village, MK10 9AA (HOD event) 10.00-16.00
